Organized by the Georgia Museum of Art and the Mobile Museum of Art, this exhibition featured 128 paintings from the numerous periods that make up the American scene from 1930 to 1950, when the influences of the Depression and World War II contributed to styles of art variously known as Regionalism, Social Realism, Magic Realism, Surrealism and Precisionism. The exhibition traveled to Mobile, Alabama; Gainesville, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Coral Gables, Florida; Savannah, Georgia; and Athens, Georgia. Essays by Erika Lee Doss and Andrew Ladis.
