This dictionary is an adaptation of two widely acclaimed references for learning Chinese, the Far East Pinyin Chinese-English and the Far East English-Chinese Pinyin Dictionary. the Best of these two dictionaries is brought together to produce a reference that is both effective and convenient. Over 14,000 entries were selected for the Chinese-English section, including the vocabulary for both the HSK and TOP Chinese proficiency tests as well as the words most commonly used on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. To better suit the needs of non native learners, entries are ordered alphabetically by word according to their Hanyu Pinyin spellings, thus breaking with the Chinese Tradition of ordering entries by head character. Detailed explanations are given for each entry, along with clarifications are given for each entry, along with clarification for any differeces in pronunciation or useage between Mianland China and Taiwan. Additionaly, the latest scientific and technical terms have been added. The end result is a dictionary which meets the needs of learners from all around the world. The English-Chinese section consists of more than 12,000 entries and including the latest new words that have made their way into commone use. each entry is annotated with Hanyu pinyin. For those with mutiple meanings, a bilingual explanation in both Chinese and English is provided in Order to help the reader distinguish the various meanings. Any differences in proununciation or usage between Mainland China and Taiwan are also given.
