Product Overview

From the Introduction of this 354 page book: Landscape management has evolved from a pick-up truck pseudoscience to a highly sophisticated, fully integrated business that embraces the most sophisticated technology and well trained employees. The 1980s spawned corporate and residential landscapes that dictated professional landscape management services. The industry grew at a more rapid pace that the educational materials necessary to undergird the art and science. Integrated information is scant and has never been available in a single, holistic reference. 'Professional Landscape Management' was written by a professional for professionals. The book is eminently readable and enjoyable because Dr. Davide Hensley injects his unique style of humor into the text. The reference will enjoy subsequent fruitful editions and become the standard in the field by which others are judged. Few books withstand the tests of scrutinization and time, Dr. Hensley has produced such a reference. And from the Preface the author writes: I firmly believe that landscape management is the most challenging field in horticulture. The true landscape manager appreciates landscape design, knows plants and turfgrasses, identifies and controls pests of all sizes and forms, understands chemical, soils and plant nutrition, works with equipment, and knows how to grown and ever expanding list of plants. Additionally, the landscape manager faces every day challenges in directing and supervising employees, managing a budget of keeping a business afloat, and dealing with owners, managers, sales representatives, customers, and clients. The landscape professional must wade through the ever deepening mire of taxes, regulations, and government mandates. It is a very tough job. I greatly admire the people who do it well.
