This catalog-album is the opening issue of a series of albums on Russian decorative metal work. Among similar publications on Russian silver of the period, this album is the first to draw the reader's attention to the formation of the Russian style . The 120 color illustrations are accompanied by an informative text which analyzes the artistic and stylistic trends in Russian silver of this period, and describes the prevailing techniques. Also featured are major jewelry firms such as Faberge, Sazikov, Ovchinnikov, Nemirov-Kolodkin, etc. All exhibits are photographed for the fist time at the All-Russian Decorative-Applied and Folk Art Museum, Moscow.
