This volume reports the proceedings of a conference on state corporate income taxes held at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, November 1012, 1982. The papers have been somewhat revised and expanded for inclusion in this volume. The comments reflect these changes. Neither the papers nor the comments have been revised to take into account the Supreme Court's June 1983 decision in Container Corporation of America vs. Franchise Tax Board.
